Air Medical Evacuation
There is very little private air medical capability in Panama. Through our helicopter partner — flying a Bell 407 configured for aeromedical work — EMTS can move a critically ill or injured patient by air, with our own paramedics and equipment on board.
How you get this
Members get this at member rates. Outside organisations and non-members can arrange it directly — just call for a price.
This matters most where the ground cannot help you: a serious injury on a remote road, a site hours from a hospital, or a patient whose condition will not survive the drive. Air evacuation puts a paramedic crew and advanced life support equipment at the patient's side and moves them directly to a facility that can actually treat them.
Be clear about how this works, because it is not what people picture. Air evacuation cannot be summoned mid-emergency. Aircraft availability, crew, receiving facility, weather, and payment all have to line up, and payment is required in advance. If your household, community, or operation may need this capability, the time to arrange it is now — while nothing is happening.
We are still building this capability out, and we would rather say so. It is rare in this country, we intend to keep expanding it, and what we will not do is let you believe a helicopter is fifteen minutes away when the arrangements have not been made.
